On Saturday 21st March, when we would have been enjoying our second of The Cardney Concerts in Perthshire which we had planned, we tested and then broadcast the first of our wee concerts that we hope will help everyone though these increasingly unusual, difficult and worrying times. We've had a remarkable number of views and some truly lovely comments.
For anyone who missed the first (almost completely unadvertised) concert here’s a link to it on Dougie’s FaceBook https://www.facebook.com/158324834220405/videos/521788055409618/
And on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66ZePVVfaFM
If you do follow a link go to 2:58 as there is a couple of minutes of screen holdbefore that! Cheers, Jenny
Saturday 14th March 2020…
The coronavirus situation is changing so rapidly worldwide!….
Despite having really looked forward to The Cardney Concerts in Perthshire next weekend (20th & 21st March) in what is a wonderful venue within stunning scenery, we feel that in the interests of ‘social distancing’ we need to either postpone or cancel the 2 concerts. We have discussed the situation with Katriona and Lewis at Cardney Steading and they have 2 weekend dates available in the summer … Friday 5th and Saturday 6th June 2020. It is impossible to know how the coronavirus pandemic will develop and whether organising an event will be safer then. At least for those who can attend one of the concerts it would be something to look forward to in the summer!
We are really sorry for the disappointment and for any inconvenience caused to those who are travelling distances. You all know how much we love organising joyful musical experiences…but Dougie and I feel this is the right thing to do at this time.
Warm regards to all,
We are closely monitoring advice from the Scottish Government and the UK Government regarding coronavirus and it's impact on gatherings and events …. and we will be following their advice.
At present are planning for the concerts to go ahead and we have decided to implement the following measures:
Don't miss the latest Shuttle Bus News under the daffodils!!.
We hope you’ll join us for a new adventure this coming Spring. Years ago we began Easter concerts in Clunie Village Hall and in March 2019 we had two great sold-out Clunie Concerts again. Now we are moving to a very special new venue …Cardney Steading on the Carney Estate (between Dunkeld and Butterstone). The steading is beautifully restored stone and brilliantly adapted as a venue. Set in a stunning landscape with amazing views and wildlife it will we are sure become one of our very special venues.

Some thoughts from Jenny…
I think it was agreed by ourselves and the team that it was one of the best Perthshire Amber Festivals ever! The autumn colours held on gloriously and despite the occasional rain and misty fog, the mood throughout the weekend was somehow joyous and the atmosphere at Murthly Castle, in Perth Concert Hall, by the banks of the Tay at Dunkeld House and in the streets of Dunkeld and Birnam was somehow very special.
I get asked regularly "what music was playing before the show and during the interval during the concert in....."?
The background music I get the soundman to use at Dougie's concerts is Dougie's instrumental album "Sunset Song"...here's a link to where you can purchase it www.dougiemaclean.com/index.php/cds/product/30-sunset-song
...and remember that if you order it here you can have it signed by Dougie f you want.
Don't miss "THE GAEL : Dougie MacLean in Concert with Piping Friends" on Sunday August 18th in the Main Auditorium of Glasgow Royal Concert Hall as part of Piping Live! 2019.
This unique concert celebrates the 30th anniversary of MacLean writing his famous tune "The Gael" (featured in the film "The Last of the Mohicans" and in folk and pipe band repertoires world-wide) and 40 years of his famous song "Caledonia". It will bring together MacLean’s consummate storytelling ability with his abiding love of incorporating pipes, drums and whistle into his music.
With a range that includes plenty of his distinctive solo voice and guitar through to more complex and dramatic songs and tunes involving skilled and talented musicians Ross Ainslie, Finlay MacDonald and Gus Sicard plus other members of the piping supergroup TRYST and select special guests…this will be THE Dougie concert of 2019! So get tickets now and let anyone you know who's in or near Glasgow know all about it!
